Back in November of 2021, thanks to supporters of Music Mission and the City of St. Paul, we got to have Ramón Gutiérrez up to Minnesota for our inaugural "Fall Fiesta". Part of the activities were videoed here by Richard Medek.

This year Music Mission realized two major Minnesota events, Lowertown Guitar Festival and the Fall Fiesta, supported young musicians in Guerrero, Mexico with recordings and classes, and continued to donate instruments to underserved communities

2020: Music Mission presents “Connection” a series of virtual micro-concerts . Weekly we will share a video from Minnesota to Mexico, filmed from beaches and barrios to guitar shops and home studios. Artists crossing the borders and reaching to connect, share, and inspire.

We send our gratitude to these exceptional independent artists and the crews that help build up our message, bringing awareness to community-focused music throughout the Americas.

Two of our greatest success stories have come in Mexico. In three years of work with students at a rural school in the mountainous Mixe region of Oaxaca, we have donated instruments, books and sheet music, and a series of composition and creative music clinics with young students, ultimately leading to performance opportunities at some of Mexico’s most prestigious venues - the Teatro de la Ciudad and Feria San Marcos - for some of the young musicians.

In working with Los Cardencheros de Sapioriz, the last surviving generation of a slave era song from the ranches of Durango, Mexico, we have sponsored the group’s first internationally released recording, facilitated festival appearances, and obtained visas allowing the men to perform in the United States, assisting in creating economic opportunity and appreciation for tradition for Los Cardencheros and for the town of Sapioriz, home to the next generations of canto cardenche singers.

Music Mission regularly realizes events in both Mexico and the USA. In 5 years of activity, we have worked with communities in providing workshops, private lesson scholarships, concert bookings, and community festivals. Recent activities have taken us to Veracruz and Mexico City as we plan for a 2021 busy with artist exchanges between Minnesota and Mexico, streaming concerts, and what we hope will be the best Lowertown Guitar Festival yet.
